Haruka and Nagisa wake up to Makoto’s voice calling Rei, and when they go to check at the beach, they see Makoto attempting to save Rei! Haruka and Nagisa jump right in.
Haruka manages to save Makoto, but he has lost consciousness. He then tries artificial respiration, and Makoto comes back to life. At a different spot, Nagisa manages to save Rei, whom they thought was swallowed by the waves.
Makoto tells Haruka, “I remembered that time...” He said that although he has traumatic memories of the sea, he still wants to swim together with Haruka. At that point, Nagisa and Rei arrive, and they are all glad that everyone is safe.
To avoid the rain, the four boys seek refuge in an abandoned rest house. Even though the place looks like a haunted house, they still explore it in hopes of finding food and blankets, but all they find is an apron and some canned mackerel...
They still can’t sleep even after filling their stomachs, so they decide to doing something...and somehow, they end up playing truth or dare! The first is Rei with a story about his pants in elementary school, next comes Haruka with a love story...or maybe not, he just saw a beautiful waterfall. Next is Nagisa, who makes everyone laugh by pantomime playing a rockhopper penguin. Makoto laughs at last, but then, it’s his turn and he must sharing his traumatic experience.
He tells them that when he was a child, he would often visit the fishing harbor of a neighboring town. At that time, the boat of the old man he used to play with sunk 3 km away from the fishing bay. That is where is fear of the sea originated from. “Then why did you come to training camp?” Nagisa asks. Makoto mutters, “It felt like with the four of us, I could swim anywhere.” The rain stops, and the four of them look at the stars covering the sky, and they are impressed by the puddle at their feet reflecting the starry sky. Morning comes, and the four boys happily start swimming again...
Thanks to the things that happened on the island and the night spent together, their unity became firmer. It might only be a delusion, but we can relate to that teenage feeling of “I can do anything” that comes through in this episode.
