Staff on the Movie “Mint,” a Fusion of Animation and Live Action, Have Been Decided

News has been announced regarding the movie Mint which fuses animation and live action and is being directed by Shutaro Oku, a well-known genius responsible for such works as the movie USB. Other staff participating in the movie include Production I.G’s Kazuchika Kise as animation director and Shoji Meguro, well-known from his work on the Megami Tensei and Persona series, as music director.

Set in Japan in the near future where the SNS “Mint-System” has been constructed for children who are admitted to the National Child Medical Centers all over Japan, the movie Mint tells the story of a boy named Hiro who has an incurable disease and how he meets a girl named Nana within Mint. This ambitious work fuses animation and live action within the 2D world of the SNS.

Director Shutaro Oku is active in a diverse range of fields. He began with the movie USB and has gone on to participate in popular stage works including directing the theatrical play Visualive Persona 4 the Evolution and works for Takarazuka Revue and Toho Musical including Ace Attorney and Sengoku Basara.

Kazuchika Kise is acting as animation director of the movie. He has worked on hugely popular movies including Ghost in the Shell 2.0 and Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. He is a veteran who is currently working as the director of Ghost in the Shell: Arise and is a board member of Production I.G.

Music for the movie is being handled by Shoji Meguro, who has worked on the music for game series such as Persona and is praised for creating a variety of sounds that match the tone of each individual series.

Jun Kumagai, who has a wide range of work that includes being the scenario writer on the romance adventure game Scared Rider XechS and on the movie Persona 3, is being welcomed as the movie’s scriptwriter.

More information on this movie, including the performers for the live-action scenes and the voice cast for the animated scenes, will be announced via the official website in the coming days. Mint is bringing together top-class pros from a variety of worlds. Though early in development, the movie is already amassing huge anticipation.
