Plans for the 14th Japan Expo, which will be held from July 4-7 in Paris, France, are being announced one after the other. One special feature that seems to be surprising the otaku of Pairs is the announcement of an exhibition for the popular anime Evangelion called “Evangelion Anime Works in Paris.” The exhibit will be an official part of Japan Expo and will convey to Europe’s fans of Japan the appeal of the series’ anime and animated films.

At the heart of the exhibit will be reproduced drawings, production materials, and more from Rebuild of Evangelion. Reproduced drawings from Yoshiyuki Sadamoto’s comic version of the series and a human-scale figure of Unit-01 with a total height of 2 meters 9 centimeters will also be on display. This too seems like it will surprise fans in France. Furthermore, a T-shirt collection and select goods will be on display and the Rebuild of Evangelion films will be screened.

For the duration of the expo, a stamp rally will be held between four booths related to Evangelion in the convention center. A total of five stamps will be available at “Evangelion Anime Works in Paris,” Culture Japan, Glenat Manga, and Dybex. Participation is free. Glenat Manga is the publisher of the French version of the comics for Evangelion, and Dybex is the company that distributes the anime in France.

Japan Expo is becoming widely known as being a humongous Japanese culture festival held every year in Paris. Last year, the event spanned four days and brought in 210,000 people from all over Europe and abroad. Once a year, France picks up attention for being the place where the latest news on Japanese culture is dispatched. Last year, a huge variety of guests participated in the expo, including Naoki Urasawa, Flow, Haruhiko Mikimoto, Kohei Tanaka, Keiji Inafune, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Momoiro Clover Z, and more. Announced guests for this year include Tetsuo Hara, Denpagumi.inc, and Angela. Even more important guests are planned to be announced, and attendance is projected to reach 230,000. It seems the expo will be bustling again this year.
