Sculptor/Figure Artist - Japanese
I’m a sculptor named OZ. I like works with strong original tastes, and all of the works I create have strong arrangements as well. I work for a company called Embrace Japan where I do figure direction and create prototypes. My dream is for people all over the world to enjoy the figures I create. If your interest wells up even a little from my work, I’d like to get to know you.

Get close to her and you’ll be killed... is how I would like this to come across.
Modeling her strong face and eyelashes were my main focus with this, I think. For the phantom half, I had planned on making it a falcon at first, but ended up making it a skull. The front-side of the frills were a pain...

I did these while trying out a color resin kit. I don’t really feel like it did much.
There is blood on each of the weapons. It was hard to paint it to look dirty, but it was fun.

I wanted the hair to be more disheveled. It seemed like it would have been a pain to pull the hair out... My apologies. When I made this, I was hoping to convey the shakiness of the tense atmosphere before battle. I made this with Sculpey, and I got irritated because at first, the legs would bend each time I baked it.

When I was selected for the Wonder Showcase after aspiring to be in it for so long, I raised my hands in delight, but now that I think about it, I wonder if that was the best reaction. Well, if I dwell on it, I’m sure I’ll never be able to get passed it, lol. This figure has a lot of memories for me, both good and bad.

  • Mai Shiranui Ver. KOFXIII

You probably can’t tell who this picture is of just by looking at it, lol. It’s Mai Shiranui from The King of Fighters 13. The graphics changed a lot, and Mai Shiranui’s character in the game is mostly you-know-what, so I did this leaving something to the imagination. I had this photo taken by figure photographer KON. I was really excited to have such a sultry photo taken. The strength of the photo is its magnitude.

About Me

OZ

Sculptor/Figure Artist / Japanese

I am a sculptor and figure artist originally from Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, and am currently residing in Tokyo. I supervise and produce prototypes for commercial use for a company. I have also taught at an anime-focused technical school. I also exhibit original figures and figures of copyrighted characters for which I have made an arrangement at the model event Wonder Festival. The material I work with is New Fando (stone clay). My hobbies include Go and video games (particularly fighting games). I joined this site to interact with creators from various fields. I enjoy all the inspiration here. I only ever make figures of pretty girls, but I also like creatures and macho guys. Please feel free to contact me should you feel interested.

    Creator Interview

What are you particular about when making figures?

I always want it to look interesting, even if it’s rough. I’m particular about the parts you can’t see.

How long does it take to produce a figure?

I try to keep the production time for one figure to 2-3 months. Whether I finish or not completely depends on the figure.

When do you come up with the ideas for your pieces?

I think about it regularly. I wait for a god to descend upon me, but it seems like there are too many coming to give me bad ideas. Even if I come up with something, there are a lot that don’t end up going anywhere, which gets me down, but I’ll keep trying.
