OtapediaNendoroid - Attack on Titan

Nendoroid is a brand of small plastic figures created by the Japanese company Good Smile Company. The name of the company comes from “Nendo”, the Japanese word for clay or plasticine.

They are replicas of the characters of popular anime and manga and are items for collection. Usually they are about 10 cm tall, although it depends on the character they are based on- They are made in chibi style, with a large head and a small body, so that they look cute or kawaii. Also, their faces and body parts are interchangeable, which can give them a varied range of expressions, postures and objects. The first Nendoroid was launched in April 2006.

Nendoroid includes figures of a large variety of manga and anime series, such as Kannagi, Lucky Star, Death Note, K-ON!, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu, Fate/stay night or Black Rock Shooter. Furthermore, they also reproduce characters from the Vocaloid synthesizer software and some popular games as Touhou Project.

The first Nendoroids were made by a sculptor (or a group of sculptors) known by the pseudonym Nendoron. This pseudonym is credited on almost all the production that Nendoroid has marketed to date. The real identity of the artist (or group of artist) is unknown.

  • Types of Nendoroid - Within the Nendoroid lineup, there are different kinds of products depending on their size, the different features that they contain and the way of being commercialized.

  • Nendoroid Petit - The Nendoroid Petit is the small version of the original Nendoroid. It is characterized by sets of several small figures sold together or sold at random in sealed boxes.

  • Nendoroid Plus - This one includes Nendoroid branded products that do not match into any other category such as plush toys, Nendoroid in a special format or a key chain.

  • Nendoroid Playset - The Japanese publisher Phat!, licensed by Good Smile, produces various “sets” of theme decor elements for the Nendoroid range.
