Lawson Teams Up With Kumamon for Pizza Flavored “Kara-age Kun" Chicken Nuggets!

“Kara-age Kun”, Japanese-style deep fried chicken nuggets, have been a Lawson favorite for over 30 years. Made from a single slice of chicken breast rather than ground chicken (like nuggets from many Western fast food chains), Kara-age Kun nuggets are available in a variety of different flavors with packaging featuring a unique series of characters.

The convenience store chain has previously collaborated with popular franchises such as Spider-Man, One Piece, and Doraemon to create limited edition flavors and packaging, and this latest addition sees them teaming up with popular local mascot Kumamon.

The new pizza flavored chicken nuggets use tomatoes grown in Kumamon’s home province of Kumamoto as well as basil grown in the Kumamoto’s Aso city. The brightly colored packaging features a classic pizza parlor scene with Kumamon clutching a tomato and basil leaf while one of the Kara-age Kun characters minds the stove. Available from Lawson stores across Japan, a packet of pizza flavored Kara-age Kun nuggets will set you back 268 yen (including tax), but the good news is that they’re only 309 calories!
