Season 2 has been confirmed for the TV anime Terraformars that was broadcast last year. The title is Terraformars: Revenge and it is slated to begin broadcasting next April. Along with this, news on the cast and staff was also released.
Aside from the original work that is a huge hit, there is also an epic live-action movie due to be released during Golden Week 2016. Along with the upcoming new TV anime, Terraformars is looking like it will create a whirlwind next year.
Cast members from season 1 are returning including Yoshimasa Hosoya as Akari Hizamaru and Hidenobu Kiuchi as Shokichi Komachi. Viewers will be able to enjoy the performances from this wonderful lineup of cast members once again.
On the other hand, there are big changes on the staff side. Directing this time is Michio Fukuda who has been in charge of storyboards for many anime including Hyakko and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. In charge of series composition is Naruhisa Arakawa who has brought to the world a wide variety of works, from anime to tokusatsu. Handing the character designs are Atsushi Itagaki and Kagetsu Aizawa, the sound director is Takafumi Wada, and Takayuki Yamaguchi is handling the music. Producing the anime this time is TYO Animations in addition to Liden Films, which produced season 1.
The first key visual shows Akari Hizamaru and Michelle surrounded by Terraformars. The illustration appropriately decorates the second round of the survival action series. With the Japan-wide release of the live-action movie on the horizon and slated for April 29 of next year, there’s likely to be huge excitement for the second season of the TV anime as well.
Terraformars is based on a popular action manga of the same name currently serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump. Set in the future on Mars, the story follows the life and death struggle between strange evolved forms of humanoid cockroaches called Terraformars and humans given special body modifications.
