“The Starting Point of Evangelion” Exhibition in Shibuya Parco Features Rare Animation Cels and More from the Original TV Anime

Exclusive Blu-ray and DVD box sets for the legendary ‘90s anime Neon Genesis Evangelion will be released on Aug. 26. This special anniversary release will be celebrated with an exhibit at Parco Gallery X in Shibuya. This exhibit is titled “The Starting Point of Evangelion" This free exhibition will run from Aug. 21–31 and give attendees a chance to look back on the history of this captivating series through a range of exclusive materials.

"The Starting point for Evangelion” will feature various rare items from the early days of Neon Genesis Evangelion including animation cels, film cases, LaserDiscs, reference models and more.

In recent years, most talk of the Evangelion series has centered around the new Rebuild of Evangelion animated films. This exhibit will focus on the origins of the original TV anime series that started it all.

Furthermore, exclusive items featuring the iconic Matisse font used in the titles of each episode will be on sale. Clear file sets and tote bags featuring key phrases from the series like “In the year 2015 A.D.,” “General Purpose Humanoid Battle Weapons,” “Human Instrumentality Project,” and “Congratulations” will be on sale. The items, which are designed to look like the backgrounds of the original VHS and LaserDisc packages for Evangelion, bring fans good memories of when the series was first released.

Attendees can also buy custom-made stickers with words or names printed in the same Evangelion title font. Pin badges with famous lines from the series are another exclusive item up for grabs.

Exclusive Eva Store Blu-ray and DVD box sets will also be sold at the exhibition. The Blu-ray set includes the original script for the first episode, while the DVD set includes the original script for the last episode. The Blu-ray box set costs 42,120 yen, and the DVD box costs 20,520 yen (tax included). The contents of each box set differs slightly, with the Blu-ray set including the HD remastered version and the DVD set the original TV anime broadcast version.
