“Shokotan” aka Shoko Nakagawa’s all-Japan solo tour “Shoko Nakagawa Live Tour 2013 Chaos Z Tour” is nearing its end. From Sept. 27 to Nov. 4, Shokotan gave concerts in six places across Japan. Starting from Yokohama through Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Nagoya, she toured all over Japan, and now she has once again returned to Kanto, Tokyo. We checked out the second day live in Zepp DiverCity Tokyo on Oct. 27.
On the day of the concert, the venue, Zepp DiverCity Tokyo, was crowded with fans waiting for Shokotan’s appearance. Maybe it was because Halloween was drawing near and it was a Shokotan concert, there were some eye-catching cosplay of fans wearing Gothic Lolita outfits or the Survey Corps uniform from Attack on Titan or dressed up as Yoko Littner from Gurren Lagann, creating an early Halloween atmosphere. This was a crowd worthy for a concert from someone who openly declares herself an otaku.
This year, Shokotan has appeared at events and festivals of different genres, such as the “Rock in Japan Festival 2013” and “Animelo Summer Live 2013,” and last year, she had a successful tour in Asia. She is using all that experience in her present tour, for which she was waiting for the ideal moment.
The name of the tour, “Chaos Z Tour,” comes from her 16th single that was released this June, “Zoku Konton.” She started the concert with the title song and performed 22 songs altogether, including her new song to release on Dec. 11, “Once Upon a Time -Kibou no Uta-.”
The band, with Shokotan in the center, played mostly rock songs such as “Flying Humanoid,” “Raspberry Eclipse,” and the popular “Sorairo Days,” while encouraging the audience with shouts like “Let’s go on a rampage together!”, “Burn out!”, and “Everyone, fly!”. Meanwhile, she also charmed them with the acoustic version of “Mitsubachi no Sasayaki” and by gracefully singing “Kirei a la Mode.” Rock songs and slow ballads together - this was truly a chaotic live faithful to the name of the tour.
The concert, just as she said, “These two hours feel like two seconds,” ended in the blink of an eye, as if time was speeding by in fast forward. However, when the audience was demanding Shokotan’s return by shouting “Sorairo Days” in chorus, she came back in a different outfit! Not only that, she also brought Rolly, the musician who played with her in “Zoku Konton” as a surprise guest who livened up the venue with his Halloween costume and talking. And so the audience witnessed a masterful guitar performance in this concert’s encore of “Zoku Konton.”
After the concert finished, it was announced on the front screen that Shokotan’s 29th birthday live “Tokyo Shoko☆Land 2014” will be held next May at Maihama Amphitheater, attracting loud cheers from the crowd. Seeing how this May’s “Tokyo Shoko☆Land” became a topic for simulating a flight in the venue, it will surely be a concert worthy of checking out for fans and others alike.
Also, the contents were revealed for the bonus DVD of her 17th single that is set to release on Dec. 11 in Japan, titled “Sakasama Sekai/Once Upon a Time -Kibou no Uta-”. It will probably feature videos from this tour’s Zepp Sapporo live. This is a must-see as well!
