The Sumikko Gurashi smartphone app for iOS and Android, Sumikko Gurashi Puzzle o Surundesu, is developed and operated by Pitaya Games, Wooga Japan, and Imagineer, and was officially released on July 14.
The game is also set to roll out across Asia after its Japanese release hitting Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
So what kind of game is it?
In the game, the Sumikko Gurashi guys solve puzzles whilst looking for a nice corner and clearing levels along the way. In a new style of match-four game, you move the character-shaped blocks up, down, sideways and diagonally to make them disappear when you’ve got more than four of the same kind. You can have fun travelling around and collecting Sumikko Gurashi characters and items as well as enjoying their cute actions in the Sumikko Gurashi world. You can even link up with your friends over social networks and play together.
In the run up to the game’s release there were also a number of celebratory events announced via the official Twitter feed so make sure you keep an eye on that for all the latest information!

About Sumikko Gurashi
Sumikko Gurashi is a collection of characters created by San-X in 2012. The characters appeal to the “corner-loving” spirit of Japanese people who often say “I like to sit in the corner seat on a train” or “If I can I like to reserve a corner seat in a cafe.” The series has proved a big hit with adults and children alike.
In 2015, San-X opened an official shop handling Sumikko Gurashi and its other most popular line, Rilakkuma, as well as a limited time only collaboration cafe. At the same time as continuing to develop its presence in physical stores, Sumikko Gurashi has also become popular through its LINE stickers and has now moved into developing more content for smartphones.
