Having first been born as a video game in 2009, then adapted into a TV anime, a theatrical anime, a manga, novel, and even a stage play, Steins;Gate has been developed across a mix of media. Five years since its birth, there are no signs of its popularity slowing.
The series is set in Akihabara and revolves around a main character who builds a time machine and must travel to different time lines again and again in an attempt to change the future and save his friends. The sequel to the game, Steins;Gate 0, is soon to be released on Nov. 19.
Meanwhile, a fan event titled “Science Adventure Live 2015: Steins;Gate 5th Anniversary” will be held on Sunday, Oct. 18. At the event will be cast members from the anime and games, and even artists as guests. It will be an event of performances and discussions among the cast to make fans happy.
Beginning with Kanako Ito who sings the theme songs in the “Science Adventure Series,” planned performers from the Steins;Gate series include Asami Imai who voices Kurisu Makise, Haruko Momoi who voices Faris Nyannyan, Yu Kobayashi who voices Luka Urushibara, and Saori Goto who voices Moeka Kiryu.
The event will take place at Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo. There will be an afternoon performance at 2:00 p.m. and an evening performance at 6:00 p.m. Tickets cost 4,500 yen.
Steins;Gate is the second work in the “Science Adventure Series,” a game series released by 5pb and planned and created by Mages President Chiyomaru Shikura. Concepted around “99% science and 1% fantasy,” releases in the series so far include Chaos;Head Noah, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, and Chaos;Child. The series is highly popular with game and anime fans alike for its superior visuals, stellar voice cast, and dense story. The “Science Adventure Live” event based on these popular games was first held in 2012, and this year’s is the first event since then. Because of that, it’s likely to be one anticipated by fans all the more.
