With Fall Broadcast on the Way, “Lance N’ Masques” Picks Up Steam; Official Site Also Opens

The new TV anime Lance N’ Masques will begin broadcasting this fall on TBS, BS-TBS, and other networks. The series is a romantic love story set in a world in which knights still exist in the present day. The original work is a light novel from Pony Canyon’s light novel label, Poni Can Books. Series directly from Poni Can are picking up attention.

With the broadcast slated to begin this fall, things have finally fully kicked off for the series. The official site to the anime has opened, and information has begun being posted. A key visual, staff and cast information, and more are on the official site - it’s a great way to gather information about the fall broadcast.

The key visual shows main character Yotaro Hanabusa and heroine Makio Kidoin. Yotaro is a descendent of the knights that have continued to exist up to the present day, and Makio longs to be rescued by a masked hero, but she doesn’t know Yotaro’s true identity. Yotaro, who at the time wore a mask to hide his identity from Makio, somehow ends up living together with her. How the story between these two will unfold will be one of the series’ highlights.

The main cast was also announced this time. Playing Yotaro is Daiki Yamashita and playing Makio is Ari Ozawa. Additional cast members include Manami Numakura as Yotaro’s mentor, Yoriko Sudo, and Suzuko Mimori as Alice Cleveland, a knight who serves Yotaro. This wonderful voice cast performing together is but another of the series’ charms.

Directing the anime is Kyohei Ishiguro of Your Lie in April, and the series composer and scriptwriter is Hideaki Koyasu who also creates original novels. Studio Gokumi of Kiniro Mosaic fame is producing.

This will be the first anime adaptation for the series, which has been developed under the Poni Can Books label as a light novel series since 2013. It’s also being talked about for this reason. In charge of illustrations for the series is Shino, creator of Sunday Without God and others. Also, by editing to fit the storyline of the novel series, Studio Gokumi will blend the anime and the original novels. With the anime adaptation on the horizon, the series is expanding. Attention is building around this first anime of a Poni Can Books series.
