At the end of 2013, music label and video software manufacturer Pony Canyon embarked into the world of light novels. Many books are currently being published under the company’s publishing label, PoniCan Books. An anime adaptation for one among them has already been decided on. That work is Hideaki Koyasu’s and illustrator Shino’s Lance N’ Masques. The company released a promotional video for the anime, which is picking up attention. The PV is roughly 15 seconds long and focuses on introducing the characters.
Lance N’ Masques is a light novel with the concept of Medieval European knights living in the 21st century. However, due to modernization and wars, the knights have all but vanished save for the Knights of the World. Main character Yōtarō Hanafusa sneaks away from the Knights of the World and begins moving in secret as the masked knight Knight Lancer. Knight battle action then unfolds.
The original work is penned by Hideaki Koyasu and illustrated by Shino. Studio Gokumi, who until now has created anime for A Channel, The Severing Crime Edge, and Kiniro Mosaic, is in charge of the anime. Studio Gokumi also edited the original series. The studio is deeply connected to the world of the original work.
The second volume of Lance N’ Masques released in Japan on May 3. Other releases by PoniCan Books include the first volume of Hoshi Kuzu Eiyū Den - Hōrō Wakusei no Himegimi, Kaikōsuru Amaranima, and Maid Kissa Hiroshima, and the second volume of ALCA, Paganini op2, and Kamari Chihō Kyōkai Tokumuka no Jikenbo.
