Jibanyan and Whisper become Japanese sweets; “Tabemas Yo-Kai Watch” releases on April 29
New sweets will be hitting shelves based on Yo-Kai Watch, a highly popular game turned anime. Releasing is “Tabemas Yo-Kai Watch,” Japanese sweets themed after popular characters from Yo-Kai Watch. Sales will begin on April 29 in AEON stores across Japan (excluding Okinawa).
Yo-Kai Watch is an anime that began as a game that has seen various developments, including toys, and is a greatly popular series with growing kids. The newest work in the series, Yo-Kai Watch 3, gathered great attention when it was announced that the stage would be switched from Japan to the U.S. Along with the popular TV anime, the second film in the series has been confirmed.
Three versions of the “Tabemas Yo-Kai Watch” sweets are confirmed for release: Jibanyan, Komasan, and Whisper. “Tabemas” is a new series of character sweets, with these Yo-Kai Watch sweets being their first release. The sweets are nerikiri created using toffee, sugar, and rice cake flour kneaded into a dough. They are intricately detailed, even coming with legs, and each of the yokai are cutely expressed.
Each version has a different filling to enjoy: Jibanyan is a custard cream red bean jam, Komasan is a milk red bean jam, and Whisper is a chocolate red bean jam. The flavors were thoughtfully created with kids’ happiness in mind.
Nerikiri is the tasty combination of the delicate flavors inherent in Japanese sweets and sweet red bean jam. Beginning with the roll around Jibanyan’s waist, the colors of the candies are carefully expressed, and even his upward gaze from the series has been captured. There will likely be those who are overcome with its cuteness and can’t eat it.
These sweets come just in time for this year’s Children’s Day, and will likely be a pleasant gift for kids who like Yo-Kai Watch. The sweets will be on sale in advance from April 27 (Mon.) to May 5 (Tues.).
