Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine broadcast begins April 10; newest PV released

Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine will begin broadcasting on April 10. The anime is a new season for Knights of Sidonia, which began broadcasting in March 2014. The story will take place after the events of the previous season.

Coming before the start of the broadcast, a new PV has been released on the official site. The PV shows off the quality of the animation, which rivals that of the previous season.

The PV is full of highlights including battle scenes between the Gauna and Tsugumori piloted by main character Nagate Tanikaze. On the other hand, it also incorporates plenty of everyday scenes and puzzling scenes as well. The PV will raise anticipation for fans awaiting the broadcast.

Another highlight of the anime is its music. Angela, who sung the previous opening theme “Sidonia,” is in charge of the opening theme once again. The OP theme this time is titled “Kishi Koshinkyoku.”

A visual for the OP theme’s CD release has also been made available at this time. The visual matches the song and shows the two members of Angela wearing knight outfits and riding atop horses. “Kishi Koshinkyoku” will be released on CD Wednesday, April 29 and will also include the Knights of Sidonia the Movie theme song, “Ai, Hito Kakera.”

Knights of Sidonia is a manga by Tsutomu Nihei that is currently serialized in Monthly Afternoon. To date, 14 volumes have been published. The series has also been adapted into a TV anime, which became a big hit for bringing digital animation to the series’ stout story. Because of its high popularity, a film adaptation called Knights of Sidonia the Movie was then released that provided a reedit of the TV anime. The film reached first place on mini theater rankings two weeks after its opening, and was a smash hit that brought in over 50 million yen in box office revenue within two weeks after its release.
