The third season for series YuruYuri has been green-lit for production. The original work is a slice-of-life school comedy currently serialized in the magazine Comic Yuri Hime published by Ichijinsha.
The first season of the anime, YuruYuri, aired in 2011, followed by the second season in 2012. The latest release was an OVA in 2014 titled YuruYuri Nachuyachumi!, which also had theater screenings as well. The series is loved for its light-hearted and enjoyable story revolving around Akari Akaza and her friends who take over a club classroom no longer in use by the school Tea Club, instead making it into their very own Amusement Club!
To add to the excitement of the third season being green-lit, staff information has also been revealed. However, other important announcements such as the title for the new series will be revealed at a later date.
With regard to the staff, most of the creators participating this time around are from the team who worked on the OVA. The director is Hiroyuki Hata (past series include Recently, My Sister is Unusual). Scenario will be by the combined team of director Hata and Makoto Fukami, a novelist who was involved with the series Psycho-Pass. Fukami is an expert in writing action, so it will be interesting to see how he writes a more light-hearted slice-of-life. The character designer and chief animation director will be Motohiro Taniguchi, and the anime production in general will be handled by TYO Animations.
The cast will remain unchanged from past seasons. The main cast of four childhood friends starts with Akari Akaza voiced by Shiori Mikami, Kyoko Toshino voiced by Yuka Otsubo, Yui Funami voiced by Minami Tsuda, and lastly Chinatsu Yoshikawa voiced by Rumi Okubo. Look forward to their usual colorful comedy and silly antics!
The official site also revealed a key visual for the third season, a very charming picture of the four girls of the Amusement Club. Watch out for more announcements like airtimes and theme songs soon to come!
