The broadcast start date for the TV anime Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches has been confirmed. The anime will kick off on Tokyo MX on April 12 before being broadcast on networks nationwide in Japan.

The theme song artists have also been revealed. Weaver is in charge of the opening theme, “Kuchizuke Diamond,” and MimiMemeMIMI is in charge of the ending theme, “Candy Magic.”

The first episode of Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches will air on April 12 on Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, TV Hokkaido, and Nishinippon Broadcasting, and on April 13 on Yomiuri TV, TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting, and BS11. A special advance episode will also air on April 5 and 6. Details on this as well are of interest. Stay tuned for a follow-up report.

The 3-piece piano band Weaver, who are creating the opening theme for the anime, got their major debut in 2009. To date, they have been in charge of theme songs for a number of works including the movie Momose, Kocchi o Muite. Their new song “Kuchizuke Diamond” was written just for the occasion and focuses on the keyword “kiss” with a feel similar to the anime, which develops in story beginning with a kiss. What will the final song sound like? We eagerly await the release.

Creating the ending theme is music unit MimiMemeMIMI which is comprised of singer/songwriter Yuka and illustrator Chamooi. Yuka is also active as the voice of Maria Sarushima under the name Yuki Takao, and she brings excitement to the series through both her singing and acting. Make sure to keep your eyes on these girls who have expressed through song the worlds of TV anime including Kimi no Iru Machi and Blade & Soul.

Coming before the start of the broadcast, an advance screening event of episode 1 will be held on March 14. Ryota Osaka (voice of Ryu Yamada), Saori Hayami (voice of Urara Shiraishi), director Seiki Takuno, and author Miki Yoshikawa will be onstage at the event, and the audience will be able to enjoy a discussion between them.
