Event screenings of Suisei no Gargantia: Meguru Koro, Haruka ~ Kouhen will begin on April 4. This is a sequel to Production I.G’s original sci-fi anime Suisei no Gargantia (Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet) which was broadcast beginning in April 2013. Set half a year after the close of the TV series, the story introduces a new character to the adventure of Ledo, who was separated from his mecha, Chamber.
With the release of a new work on the horizon, an event in which to experience the world of Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet was held at Wonder Festival 2015 [Winter] on Feb. 8 and will be held at AnimeJapan 2015 on March 21 and 22. Through the use of the virtual head-mounted display Oculus Rift, the scene from the first part of Suisei no Gargantia: Meguru Koro, Haruka of the fleet caught in a storm has been recreated from the point of view of being inside Chamber’s cockpit. The event simulates what it’s like to pilot Chamber.
Reports of the event from cast members have come in. Kaito Ishikawa, the voice of Ledo, praised the event, saying, “Even the fleet and waves were intricately detailed and it’s fun simply for its visuals,” and also commented, “I had wanted to experience [this event] since finishing the post-recording (lol).”
On the event’s appeal, Hisako Kanemoto, the voice of Amy, commented, “In experiencing the realistic scale of the Kanemoto Fleet I was able to realize just how big the ships are by looking up at them and feel the strength of the storm. I hope that everyone will surely experience the world of Gargantia.”
This virtual event was held at Wonder Festival 2015 [Winter] on Feb. 8 at the Wonderful Hobby Life for You!! booth inside the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex, and will also be held at AnimeJapan 2015 on March 21 and 22 at the Production I.G booth.
