Niconico Shoten Kaigi will be held at Way Garden Park Wakayama-ten in Wakayama Prefecture on Feb. 22. Niconico Shoten Kaigi is a user participation-type event to be held in 10 bookstores across Japan. In addition to popular Niconico Douga categories coming to life, there will also be signing events and talk shows with creators of Kadokawa series. Footage from the event will also be broadcast on Niconico Live with the purpose being to convey the charms of books and bookstores.
Another big project is also in the works for the event. The theme of the project is “Char Playing Cards.” On the day of the event, voice stars Shuichi Ikeda and Megumi Han will appear onstage to recite lines of dialogue on the “Char Playing Cards.” Each will also appear as their respective characters, Char Aznable and Artesia Som Deikun, onstage on Feb. 28 for the event screening of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin I: Blue Eyed Casval.
“Char Playing Cards” are playing cards that feature famous lines by Char and Seira from Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. In charge of the playing cards is M.S.S. Project, famous for its game commentary on Niconico Douga. It seems this important event coming before the film’s release will catch buzz due to the wonderful performances by Ikeda and Han lined up. It will be interesting to see which lines from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin will be used and if there will be lines not from the anime.
There will also be advance sales of Volume 24 of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin at the event as well as a signing event. The series’ story concluded in Volume 23, whereas Volume 24 was published as a special volume in Monthly Gundam Ace and its story takes place after. Megumi Han is planned to attend the signing event.
Each ticket will grant attendees one piece of reproduced color artwork with Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s reproduced signature and Megumi Han’s handwritten signature. Tickets will be given out for purchases made on Feb. 22 and are limited to the first 100 visitors.
