With the first game released in 2004, the Samurai Warriors (commonly known as Sengoku Musou in Japan) series has attained tremendous support up to the present from fans, and now it’s becoming a TV anime series. This news was revealed on Nov. 5.
This March, the anime Samurai Warriors: Sanada’s Chapter was broadcast on TV in celebration of the series 10th anniversary. Because of how well it was received, there will now be a regular broadcast. The anime Samurai Warriors will begin in January 2015 on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, and BS Japan.
The Samurai Warriors series is an action game series by Koei Tecmo Games, which is well known for many games including Nobunaga’s Ambition. The Samurai Warriors series is set in the Warring States period and introduces many different commanders. It’s selling point is its action overflowing with exhilaration as the player takes control of these historic figures to battle enemies. At the same time, the story depicts, based on historical facts, the very turbulent time of the Warring States period. The secret to its popularity is its high level of accuracy that history buffs recognize. There is no doubt that by becoming an anime, the story will be even more enjoyable.
The anime will center on brothers Sanada Nobuyuki and Yukimura, who are both highly popular characters in the series. Moreover, famous commanders abundant in personality will also be intertwined into the story including Ishida Mitsunari and Naoe Kanetsugu. Hisashi Koinuma is completely overseeing creation of the anime, with production being handled by TYO Animations and Tezuka Productions. Directing the anime is Koujin Ochi of Detective Conan and La Corda d'Oro: Blue Sky fame, the series composer is Yuka Yamada of Harukanaru Toki no Naka de: The Movie fame, and the character designer is Aki Tsunaki.
In charge of the theme song is the band Ikusa. Members of the band have been showered in attention due to their fusion of traditional Japanese instruments into a rock band, so it’s safe to say that they are perfect for Samurai Warriors. Just what kind of song will they unleash? We can’t take our eyes off this either.
