A portion of the cast for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Assassination Classroom which will begin broadcasting on Fuji TV in January 2015 has been decided. Playing the standout character Koro-sensei––who appears suddenly, declares that Earth would be destroyed next March, and somehow becomes the teacher of a third-year middle school class of underachievers called End Class––is being played by popular voice actor Jun Fukuyama. Jun’s representative roles include Lelouch in Code Geass, Rikuo in Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, and Kimihiro Watanuki in xxxHolic. This time he is playing a highly unique character, so attention is on how he will play it.
Two more members of the cast have also been announced. Tadaomi Karasuma, an employee of the Ministry of Defense who supports Class 3-E by providing them with assassination techniques as their PE teacher, is being played by Tomokazu Sugita and Irina Jelavić, an assassin hired to be Class 3-E’s English teacher, is being played by Shizuka Ito. Sugita is skilled at playing highly unique characters, having previously played Gintoki in Gintama and Kyon in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Ito too has worked on many hit series including Beelzebub as Hilda and Hayate the Combat Butler as Hinagiku. These three popular and skillful voice actors will bring even more excitement to this talked-about series.
Fans can also check out a newly released visual that shows these three characters. Hold out until the broadcast early next year by taking a look at the anime’s characters. Official comments from each of these cast members have also been released. Their words as well will elevate anticipation for the anime.

“I’m Jun Fukuyama, and I have the pleasure of voicing Koro-sensei. Up until now in my career as a voice actor, I have played a variety of different types of characters including a traditional red-blooded hero, a bald partner, a player who likes rough play, a teacher who wears glasses, and even a chivalrous youkai boss, but this is my first time playing an extraordinary being with tentacles. And I feel that this is a monumentally important chance that I won’t have again. In order to meet everyone’s expectations, even my fighting spirit is at mach speed! Everyone, I look forward to your support!”

“I have been given this role, but even more so, I want to respect the hearts of students.”
Comment from Shizuka Ito (Irina Jelavić):
“I’m already looking forward to the day when she is called Bitch-sensei by everyone in the class. She will try with all her might to kill Koro-sensei, so I hope you enjoy it.”
Assassination Classroom is a popular manga by Yusei Matsui currently serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha). It is a huge hit to which over 10.1 million copies are in print. The series had been called a monumental favorite that still didn’t have an anime adaptation even after so long, but this changed with the exciting news in June regarding the TV anime adaptation and a live-action movie.
