The story of the TV anime Yowamushi Pedal, which has been broadcasting on TV Tokyo and other networks since October 2013, will continue. Episode 38 will begin broadcasting on TV Tokyo on June 30. This is the final episode of Yowamushi Pedal, a series that many fans have enjoyed. Though anticipations are heightening for the story’s climax, many fans are no doubt saddened that the show is coming to an end. However, good news was brought to these fans on May 18. There will be a second season of the TV anime Yowamushi Pedal.
The announcement of the second season came during a special stage event called “Le Tour De Yowapeda” held at the Nippon Seinen-kan Hall. It was wonderful to see 12 members of the cast all together, including the voice cast for the Sohoku high school characters and the voice cast for the Hakone Academy characters. They announced this big news directly to the diehard fans. The second season will start broadcasting this October. This is a quick start, coming only three months after the end of Season 1. It seems we will see new battles between main character Sakamichi Onoda and other characters.
The original work to Yowamushi Pedal is a manga by Wataru Watanabe that is currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten). It depicts the adolescence of boys who participate in cycle road races as part of their school’s bike racing club. In addition to being popular with boys as a sports manga, the unique characters have captured the attention of female fans as well. Seeing a bump in popularity due to the anime, there are over 9.5 million copies in print, making it a huge hit. The announcement of Season 2 will likely spur on even more growth in popularity.
