“Northward Bound JoJo Front" Throughout Japan & Then the World: JoJo the World Tour Begins

JoJo the World Tour began at midnight on March 29. It’s a smartphone promotional event for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (author: Hirohiko Araki).

JoJo the World Tour is a promotion limited to certain areas involving the series, with different locations participating at different times. During the event dates, participants in each location can visit set areas and check in with their smartphones. By doing so, participants can receive original content or over 1,000 sample pages from Parts 1-8 of the series.

The event began on March 29 in the Chugoku region, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa, and afterwards will continue to move north through Japan like the cherry blossom front. The final areas will be Hokkaido and Tohoku beginning on April 19.

Designated areas for Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa include places like Hakata Station and Hiroshima Station. Details regarding the regions, dates, and designated areas can be found on the JoJo the World Tour official site.

This is the first time that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure publisher Shueisha will try this idea of providing reading samples for checking in at certain locations. It is sure to create some excitement throughout Japan this spring.

They will also provide additional content as part of a special promotion. By checking in at a designated area, participants can download a “47 Prefecture x JoJo” wallpaper for that location.

The wallpapers feature limited edition illustrations of characters and Stands based on each of the prefectures. Which character or Stand you will receive at which place can only be found out by actually checking in at that location. These are certain to be pretty rare items.

As the name suggests, JoJo the World Tour will also expand overseas. Check-in areas will be set-up outside of Japan. Details regarding the schedule and locations will be announced on the official site at a later date. Given the popularity of JoJo abroad, this event is expected to get attention outside of Japan as well.
