A collaborative cafe themed after the school battle anime Kill la Kill, which began broadcasting last October, has opened in Akihabara. The cafe will be open for a limited time in Cure Maid Cafe from March 14 to April 6. The cafe offers drinks themed after main character Ryūko Matoi, her friend Mako Mankanshoku, and others, as well as food that appears in the anime to fully enjoy. It seems patrons can immerse themselves in the world of Kill la Kill through food and drink.
The menu at the Kill la Kill cafe includes many characteristic items taken directly from the series. Among these, the one that is drawing the most attention is the “Mankanshoku Family Croquette Plate” which fans will remember from the meal scenes at the Mankanshoku residence. Among the entrees from the series are an assortment of easy-to-eat items to choose from including fried shrimp, fried pilchard, croquettes with tentacles sticking out, and fried shiitake. Another menu item, the “Tri-City Schools Raid Trip! Victory Meal,” is a hugely voluminous plate themed after the Elite Four and comes with four types of pickled vegetables and a roast beef bowl with narikin takoyaki and a side of golden mayonnaise. Other items that match the world of the anime include the playful “One-Star Cake” and “Three-Star Cake,” which are drastically different depending on the number of stars. There are also drinks themed after each character which are detailed even down to the color of the straw.
Limited bonus items have also been prepared for those who visit the cafe. Those who order from the collaboration menu will receive a not-for-sale original postcard. Being that this comes in three types, patrons can look forward to which one they will receive. Products are also being sold in advance at the cafe. Likely to be hugely popular are the monochrome and stylish “Ryūko Matoi Glass” and the “Honnouji Academy Student Council Glass” which conveys the charm of each of the characters. These are offered at a special price for those who purchase them along with a drink order.
