Hakuōki the Movie: Chapter 2: Shikon Sōkyū will have a countrywide roadshow release on March 8. With less than a month to go until the release, many fans are likely wondering about this movie’s all-new story. Wanting to answer these fans’ expectations, three stills from the movie have been released. In them, the series’ main characters––Toshizō Hijikata, Sōji Okita, Hajime Saitō, and Heisuke Tōdō––can be seen.
The first still of Toshizō Hijikata shows him flashing a ghastly expression. From his piercing gaze, the weight of the movie’s drama can be felt. Sōji Okita looks like he’s in a world of hurt, and we are curious what his fate will be. Hajime Saitō and Heisuke Tōdō are gazing off into the distance at something unseen. What their futures entail is a curious point. From these three stills, fans can also anticipate the movie’s quality.
Hakuōki is a series of romance adventure games targeted toward females that was released in 2008. It depicts the Shinsengumi, and each installment in the series has received overwhelming support from fans. In 2010, the series branched into an anime. Up until now, there have been three TV series and several OVA. The series was then adapted into a movie in 2013. Hakuōki the Movie: Chapter 1, the first part of the completely new work, was released last year, and now Hakuōki the Movie: Chapter 2 will release on March 8.
Also, before the release of Chapter 2, a special edition of Chapter 1 will be broadcast. This will occur on Feb. 20 at 25:00 on Tokyo MX and will then be repeated on Feb. 21 at 22:00 on AT-X.
On Feb. 26, the Blu-ray and DVD of Chapter 1: Kyoto Ranbu will release. This will come as both a first-press limited edition and a regular edition.
Get caught up on the series with this and the Chapter 1: Kyoto Ranbu TV special and see Chapter 2: Shikon Sōkyū in theaters to find out the fate of the series’ characters. We can’t take our eyes off the continuing battles of the Shinsengumi and the end of the Oni.
