Things are beginning to quickly pick up for Hamatora, a project that crosses multiple forms of media including TV anime, manga, and games. The manga began serialization in the Nov. 21 issue of Weekly Young Jump. Also, the TV anime will begin broadcasting in January 2014. This talked-about work will be just in time for the New Year.

The setting for the TV anime Hamatora is Yokohama in 2014. There, Nice and Murasaki, who both possess special abilities called “Minimum,” form a detective agency called Hamatora. The two become embroiled in incidents involving others who possess “Minimum.” The story touts psychic battles and crime suspense.

Nice will be voiced by Ryōta Ōsaka and Murasaki by Wataru Hatano. Other cast members include Hiroshi Kamiya as Art, a cop and old acquaintance of the two, Emiri Katō, Kiyono Yasuno, Yūichi Nakamura, Jun Fukuyama, Eri Kitamura, and Katsuki Murase. The voice cast is comprised of stellar seiyū who seem to also be drawing attention to the work.

Wataru Hatano is also the artist in charge of the ending theme, a rock number called “Hikari” that overflows with speed and is based on the world of Hamatora.

Also, an event called “Hamatora Show” will take place on Dec. 22 during Jump Festa 2014 at Makuhari Messe. This talk show event will be held three times and feature Ryōta Ōsaka, Wataru Hatano, Kiyono Yasuno, Emiri Katō, Eri Kitamura, Yūichi Nakamura, and Jun Fukuyama. A live simulcast of “Norahama Fes,” a collaboration event with the TV anime Noragami that is also beginning in January, will also take place in theaters throughout Japan on Dec. 29. Fans will be able to enjoy both of these talked-about works together. More information on these events can be found on the official site.
