The manga Days has been greenlit for a TV anime adaptation. The popular series is themed after high school soccer and is serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. Along with the announcement of the TV anime, a key visual was also released and a portion of the staff revealed.
Days is a manga by Tsuyoshi Yasuda that began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2013. Fourteen volumes have been published so far, and the series has broken through 1.5 million copies in print. The story follows main character Tsukushi Tsukamoto who joins the soccer club of Seiseki High in West Tokyo. It depicts the bonds and friendship Tsukamoto forms with the idiosyncratic members of the club, which include Jin Kazama, Hisahito Mizuki, Atsushi Kimishita, Kiichi Oshiba Yuta Usui, Jiro Haibara, and Susumu Inohara. The adolescent story focuses mainly on soccer and high school.
Directing the TV anime is Konosuke Uda, who also directed the similarly soccer-themed series Ginga e Kickoff!!. Joining him as character designer is Kazuto Nakazawa who has worked on Kuroko’s Basketball and Terror in Resonance. The music is being handled by Yoshihiro Ike, who has created music for Kuroko’s Basketball, Tiger & Bunny, and the drama series Aibo. Music production is being handled by Pony Canyon. MAPPA, the studio behind Ushio & Tora and Rage of Bahamut Genesis, is producing the animation.
A key visual has also been released, and on it are the main characters beginning with protagonist Tsukushi Tsukamoto. The anime’s official site has also opened, and on it are introductions to the characters and more info. The broadcast date has yet to be announced, so we can expect more to come.
