Hatsune Miku was released in August 2007, and by now, she has turned into a diva who has fans the world over. Hatsune Miku was born as a sound synthesizer program, but now, she has leapt out of the virtual world of computers and is working on widening her range of activities in the real world.
During the live event “Magical Mirai,” she let out her beautiful voice, and gave an unforgettable performance with Kagamine Rin and Len and Megurine Luka before the eyes of wildly enthusiastic fans. Also, in February of next year, she will appear at the 65th Sapporo Snow Festival as Snow Miku, a character who cheers on the wintery Hokkaido. The popular Hatsune Miku is now making her next step with an onsen (hot spring) collaboration!
Japan is the country of onsen; wherever you go, you will find one. Even among all those, numerous famous onsen can be found in Beppu Onsen 1. And that is where the event “Trans City feat. Hatsune Miku” is currently being held for two months.
The concept of Trans City, which is included in the title, is that of a limited edition fictional city that only appears in Beppu for two months. As an entertainment city, the event is being held on the main street of Beppu as a part of the project to increase worldwide knowledge of Beppu Onsen.
The dome-shaped event sites at the side of Beppu International Convention Center B-con Plaza function as the main attraction. There are three domes, one of which is being used as a planetarium of sorts. The walls are being used as a 360° canvas, creating a space where visitors can enjoy Miku videos and music. They have a lot of original videos up their sleeves that can only be seen at the event, including the event’s theme song, “Asterism,” which was written specially for the occasion. A Miku exhibition dome and a shopping dome that handles Miku related merchandise, including original goods, have also been constructed.
In addition, the projection mapping of a nearby middle school will be organized in the five days from Nov. 15 (Fri) to 19 (Tue) as an opening event. They are planning to unfold a gorgeous performance using the big school building as a screen.
The projection cars that screen original PVs using the walls of buildings from all around the city and the express buses commuting between Beppu and Fukuoka have also being furnished with a wrapping suitable for the event.
Furthermore, visitors can register as a resident and become a citizen of this imaginary city. Those who register will be presented with a certificate of residence and a souvenir. Fans who are planning to check out the event should definitely try applying for citizenship.
The official page for “Hatsune Miku in the City of Hot Springs, Beppu,” an event to be held at the same time, has opened. They are also planning to sell goods shown on the gorgeous illustrations below.
New event information may be uploaded at any time, so the official site is a must-check!
