“Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Border:1 Ghost Pain” Makes International Screening Debut in Europe!

The newest movie in the popular series Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Border:1 Ghost Pain, has begun screening in countries around the world.

The first international screening of the movie was held on June 21 at the Grand Rex in Paris. Being held at one of Europe’s oldest and largest theaters validated the height of the popularity of Ghost in the Shell in France. Shortly after this screening, the movie made its North American debut in Los Angeles at the annual anime convention Anime Expo 2013 on July 4. Later this month on July 26, the movie will be screened at the anime event AnimajiC in Germany. Both anime events are leaders in their respective countries. Furthermore, the movie will begin screening in Taiwan this summer and in both Australia and New Zealand on Sept. 26 at the anime event Reelanime.

The original work to Ghost in the Shell is a popular manga by Masamune Shirow. The animated movies of the work, directed by Mamoru Oshii, have gained high praise throughout the world. A TV anime adaptation of the series was also made. The director and character designer of Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Border:1 Ghost Pain is Kazuchika Kise, who has previously worked on the series as animation director and character designer, and the series composer and scriptwriter of the movie is sci-fi author Tow Ubukata.
