Broccoli announced the achievement of a CD related to the Uta no Prince-sama series ranking in the top 10 of the Oricon complete work weekly ranking chart.
Uta no Prince-sama is a mixed media series that began as a PSP game with the same name. In accordance with being classified in the genre “music-more-amazing-than-a-kiss-really does-exist adventure,” this new style game centers around romance and music. The game achieved popularity for its charming characters performed by a talented cast and high quality music that tells the story of the characters’ first year at an academy through various high frequency mini games that involve rhythm, lyrics, and knowledge tests. There are now currently seven games available. Also, in 2011 the game received an anime adaption, and now the second season is currently broadcasting to rave reviews.
The seven singles of the Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love 2000% Idol Song CD series, developed with the second season of the anime, achieved a place amongst the top 10 of all works in the Oricon CD single weekly ranking. These singles are all unpublished songs from the anime’s soundtrack performed by each character. Among them, “Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love 2000% Idol Song Hijirikawa Masato (CV: Kenichi Suzumura)” placed second in the CD single weekly ranking.
In addition to that, the total number of CDs sold related to the Uta no Prince-sama series, including music and drama CDs spanning 51 titles, has surpassed 1.2 million.
The Uta no Prince-sama series continues to grow. Certainly look forward to further developments while awaiting the next work, the PSP game Uta no Prince-sama Music 2, to release.
