On May 15, Bandai held the “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth 10 Year Anniversary Project Presentation” in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the action figure series “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth.”
“Saint Seiya Myth Cloth” is a popular figure series based on the characters of the anime and manga Saint Seiya. Seven million figures have sold worldwide since the series launched in 2003. New figures planned to release include “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Pegasus Seiya (Shinsei Cloth) 10th Anniversary Edition” in September, “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Dragon Shiryu” in October, “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Cygnus Hyoga” in November, “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Andromeda Shun” in January 2014, and “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Phoenix Ikki” in February 2014. Additionally, the “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Goddess Athena” figure of the series’ first heroine Kido Saori will release this December. Plans for figures of characters from the currently broadcasting anime Saint Seiya Omega were also announced.
As part of the project, the pure gold “Sagittarius Aiolos Gold Holy Cloth (Pure Gold Model Sagittarius Cloth)” figure worthy of its hefty 60 million yen price tag was created. However, the figure is not for sale. Instead, it will be used as a highlight in the worldwide campaign titled “World Sanctuary Tour.” It was made of pure gold in collaboration with Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry.
At the presentation, the project wasn’t just talked about by Bandai’s Kazunori Ueno, model Natsuki Kato also made an appearance dressed in Athena’s white dress. She spoke about her interest in Saint Seiya, saying that her favorite saint was Dragon Shiryu. She also complimented the smoothness of the gold “Saint Seiya Myth Cloth” figure.
