Berserk Golden Age Arc I: The Egg of the King Competes in the St. Louis International Film Festival

Even in America, the level of attention Berserk has received is amazing!

Before the new Berserk movie “Berserk Golden Age Arc III: Descent” begins screening in Japan on February 1, 2013, the first movie in the trilogy “Berserk Golden Age Arc I: The Egg of the King” was screened at the 21st annual St. Louis International Film Festival in America. The festival ran from November 8-18, with Berserk being screened on November 13. The film also competed for the Audience Choice Awards for Best Film and Best International Film.

Berserk started as a fantasy epic manga that has sold more than 33 million copies worldwide. The manga went on to become a movie trilogy, titled “Berserk: Saga Project”, which was aimed to be released worldwide. “Berserk Golden Age Arc I: The Egg of the King” is the first movie in that trilogy.

The St. Louis International Film Festival, or SLIFF for short, is the largest film festival in the American Midwest. Since its conception, SLIFF has continued to grow year after year. This year, around 20,000 people attended the festival and approximately 300 films were screened. At last year’s festival, six films from Japan, including “Outrage” directed by Takeshi Kitano, and “Norwegian Wood” directed by Tran Anh Hung, were nominated at the festival. Due to the popularity of Berserk in the Western world, “Berserk Golden Age Arc I: The Egg of the King” garnered a lot of attention at the festival.
