Female Characters
I’m learning to draw photo-realistic female comic characters. Drawing ‘realistically’ is a completely different sort of difficult.

Even among the several existing statues of David, I found inspiration for this work in the consciously boyish/feminine carvings of Donatello’s “David” statues. How many times did I redraw their faces, were they any good? Even now I worry.

Before I became a freelance illustrator, I did illustrations for magazines at an advertising artwork production company and airbrushing the Japanese versions of food packaging such as Snickers. After leaving the advertising company, I switched over to digital and started acting as a freelance illustrator. I became involved with the “Dragon Drive” anime original dragon design & toy card illustration and began to deal with anime, toy, and game illustrations.

In recent years, my work on Konami’s PS3/Xbox 360 “NeverDead” packaging design and promotional materials, “Kaijudi - Rise of the Duel Masters,” and “Rage of Bahamut” card illustrations have been released overseas.

I love Tove Janson’s Moomins.
