  • The Autumn Kingdom (2013 Ver.)

    A remake of a picture I drew in 2010.
There are a lot of parts where I used the lines from the original.
It feels that what I like to draw hasn't changed much over the years.

I drew this for TOM right from the beginning.
I like these two, and even now I draw them sometimes.

    I like the hues.
I tried using a level background that resembles a poster on purpose. This was an interesting picture to draw.

    Q&A

What made you start drawing pictures?

There was no such thing as a specific occasion. However, when I was in high school, my friends would often praise the pictures I drew in class, and I was also trusted with making the poster for the Cultural Festival, and I think it is because of things like this that I continued to draw pictures.

Being recognized and praised by people of the same age was that important to me at the time.

I used to think of myself as a boring person with nothing special worth mentioning, so I was very happy when I learned I could be of use to others and I could make them happy.

    What are your fixations?

On the whole, my motto is “a picture with a peaceful atmosphere.”
However, I’d like to avoid restricting myself with something absolute, and in that case, I might say I don’t have any fixations in particular.

Aside from that, for instance, I don’t just draw girls the way I want to, such as “I want to draw simple, not overly dazzling girls.” Instead, I think about how the characters would behave if they were real when I draw them. I have a lot of other small obsessions, but since there’s no end to them, I’ll make it short.

How long does it take to create your work?

If it's an illustration with a background, it takes maybe about 3-4 days on average.
However, my working hours differ according to the actual circumstances, so I'm not sure if this time frame is exact.

When do you usually come up with your ideas?

When I walk around town, watch TV, surf the Internet, look at pictures I took, when I look at other people’s pictures, and so on. Nothing in particular, really.

I often decide on the picture when doodling.
