Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale Blu-ray & DVD On Sale Sept. 27!

More than 2,750,000 people went to see Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale in theaters, earning more than 3.35 billion yen in the box office. Now, fans will be able to get their hands on the Blu-ray and DVD versions from Sept. 27! There will also be a limited edition version that comes with a few extras including a short story by Kawahara Reki as bonuses.

Sword Art Online, a light novel series originally written by Kawahara, is the recipient of the 15th Dengeki Shosetsu Taisho grand prize. The first arc follows protagonist Kirito in the mysterious next gen online video game Sword Art Online.

Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale marks the franchise’s first film, and it premiered on Feb. 18, 2017. It’s set in the ARMMORPG Ordinal Scale, an original game for the augmented reality-capable machine Augma.

The movie will be coming out in a total of 4 versions: Blu-ray and DVD, and standard and limited edition. The limited edition versions come with a new short story by Kawahara, an updated movie pamphlet, bonus footage, audio commentary, and a special CD, and feature box art by the character artist and chief art director Adachi Shingo. There are also store-specific bonuses depending on where you pre-order.
