It’s been months since we heard anything substantial about the live-action film adaptation of Tokyo Ghoul, but there’s finally some news: it’ll be opening around Japan on July 29!
Like the original manga and anime, the film will follow Kaneki Ken, a human who’s unexpectedly turned into a half-human half-ghoul hybrid. He’s forced to navigate the world of ghouls, something totally foreign to him, as he learns to fight for survival and deal with his ghoul-induced hunger for humans.
The production committee also released the following comment on the official website: “We want this film to express the series’ strong theme of being a drama about ghouls and humans. That filling will absolutely not change.”
