It’s been announced that there will be a 2nd season of My Hero Academia, and it will be airing in Apr. 2017. A key visual for the new series was released and includes all 22 characters.
Character designer Umakoshi Yoshihiko specially illustrated this key visual for the new season. In addition to Midoriya Izuku and the 20 members of Yuei High School’s Hero Division Class 1-A, it also includes their teacher Aizawa Shouta for a total of 22 characters. It’s a huge picture featuring them giving the piece sign - a perfect image for season 2.
A new PV is also now streaming, fully loaded with the action of the big Yuei High School Athletic Festival event in which heroes clash! You can watch it on the anime’s official site, Twitter, or TOHO animation YouTube channel.
Jump Festa 2017 was held on Dec. 17 and 18. As a part of a stage event for this series, Yamashita Daiki, Okamoto Nobuhiko, Kaji Yuki, and Uchiyama Koki appeared. Original series creator Horikoshi Kohei also appeared for an exciting talk show.
This series is based on the action manga currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. It’s popular with an action-packed story following friends as they strive to grow at Yuei High School, a famous school that trains heroes. More than 7 million volumes of the manga have been printed.
The 1st season aired in Apr. 2016. Most of the same staff is being brought back for season 2 including director Nagasaki Kenji, series writer Kuroda Yousuke, character designer and general art director Umakoshi Yoshihiko, as well as Hayashi Yuuki for music. Animation will be done by Bones, also known for Kekkai Sensen and Mob Psycho 100.
