Pop-up Store for Denmark’s National Character Rasmus Klump to Open in Shibuya MODI on Sept. 6!

RK Holdings will open a Rasmus Klump Cafe pop-up store for a limited time in Shibuya MODI from Sept. 6 to Oct. 2 concepted around Denmark’s national character, the bear Rasmus Klump. It will be the first time popular sweets like the “Rasmus Klump Deco Soft Serve” will be available in Tokyo.

■ About the Pop-up Store
The popular sweet treat “Rasmus Klump Deco Soft Serve” will be available at the Rasmus Klump Cafe in three popular flavors, and there will also be products for sale too. Rasmus Klump himself will even make an appearance on the weekends. (Please check the Shibuya MODI homepage to confirm the dates and times when Rasmus Klump will appear.)

This new sweet treat features a mini-size pancake, Rasmus Klump’s favorite food, topped on soft serve ice cream. Other refreshing sweets perfect for summer will also be on offer.

■ About Rasmus Klump
Rasmus Klump is the main character of a manga that began serialization in a newspaper in Denmark in 1951. He is a bear character who loves pancakes who was created by the Danish husband and wife team Vilhelm and Carla Hansen. The series has been serialized in over 200 newspapers worldwide, and the picture books have been printed in 21 countries and have sold over 20 million copies.

In Denmark, Rasmus Klump, the bear who wears red and white polka dots pants and a blue knit hat, is known by everyone from kids to adults as a national character. In fact, he is known by over 99% of the country. He became popular as a TV anime character with 52 episodes created from 1970 to 1996. Rasmus is also the main mascot for Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark, the world’s oldest theme park opened in 1843.

The new animation Rasmus Klump: Turtle Island won the award for Best Kid’s Animation in the Tricks for Kids category at the 2016 Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film in Germany. The anime is planned to be televised in 2017.
