Bleach Live-Action Movie Announced for 2018

In the upcoming issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, the popular Bleach manga will release its final chapter. Serialized in 2001, the manga welcomes its 15th anniversary and is going out with a bang by including alongisde the latest chapter the announcement that it's getting a live-action movie adaptation in 2018.

This follows the rush of live-action movie adapations recently as the Gintama movie was also announced for 2017. Little details are available on this 2018 Bleach film except that the lead, Kurosaki Ichigo, will be played by popular young actor Fukushi Sota, who played Kurosawa Yamato in Sukitte Ii na yo, Tezuka Hikaru in the Library Wars series, and will be the lead in Donten ni Warau, yet another manga liva-action adaptation coming in 2017.

Directing the film will be Sato Shinsuke, the man behind the two GANTZ live-action movies and the Library Wars series. Sato's upcoming movie Death Note: Light Up the New World will open later this year.

Fans hoping for a continuation of the Bleach anime might be disappointed, but at least there's the movie to look forward to! Are you excited for 2018?
