Aichi Prefecture’s sightseeing PR ambassadors, Hattori Hanzo and the Ninjas, released a new promotional movie on May 25. There will also be a Ninja Airport Project at Chubu Centrair International Airport. On June 4 and 5, the governor of Omura, Aichi Prefecture will be appearing alongside Central Japan International Airport Company (Centrair) President Masanao Tomozoe.
■ The Conspicuous Ninja Stars, Hattori Hanzo and the Ninjas
Featuring its conspicuous ninja stars, Hattori Hanzo, this advertisement is catching attention all over as it recruits ninjas for Japan’s Aichi Prefecture. “Ninja” and “Aichi” appeared alongside each other on media all over the world when this was released on May 5. It was also a huge success for Aichi’s sightseeing industry and public relations.
■ Ninja Fever Ignited Overseas
Information has been recorded for Europe and America including BBC, AFP, CNN, National Geographic, Germany, Spain, and Ireland, but Aichi Prefecture has now appeared on more sources than can be accounted, including in Malaysia, China, and Australia. The subject of reimportation has also come up more as Japanese media catches on to its success.
■ Promotion Movie Completed for Ninja Fans Overseas
“Hattori Hanzo and the Ninjas／Hattori Hanzo and the Ninjas(100 second ver.)”
The ninja clan’s promotional movie has been released and can be seen on YouTube. It’s themed around the ninja of Aichi being cool, and that you can find real ninja in Aichi, Japan. After this video, ninja fans around the world are sure to start recognizing Aichi Prefecture.
Setting the clan’s base at Nagoya Castle, it uses high-speed cameras and action cameras to capture their performances running up walls, flying through the air, and showing off their weapons including kunai as they leap from a two-dimensional world. There are also a lot of special effects like the calligraphy style used for text, as well as CG for falling foliage to capture the Japanese styles of stillness and motion, as well as simplicity and refinement.
This ninja clan has forged a new path with their debut. Will these new stars be able to take on Aichi’s sightseeing industry? The day this video sweeps over the world might not be far off.
■ Ninja Airport Project Starting at Tokai Area Entranceway
Next up for this ninja clan is turning the Tokai Area Entranceway for the Chubu Centrair International Airport into ninja grounds. The main event opens on June 4 and 5 at Centrair’s main stairway, ceiling, and tenant roof. Ninja will appear all over, including the main mascot, the Mysterious Traveler Fuu. It seems these ninja will be greeting travelers from all over the world!
■ Omura Governor Also Appearing
Showing the world that there are ninja in Aichi in gold-colored ninja clothes, the Aichi Prefectural Governor will appear alongside Centrair President Masanao Tomozoe. There will also be a ceremony commemorating the start of the Ninja Airport Project, and participants include Hattori Hanzo's ninja clan and the Nagoya Hospitality Busho-tai!
■ Upcoming Schedule
Hospitality at Chubu Centrair International Airport (Sat., Sun., Holidays)
Starting June 5 (Sun.), there will be hospitality including photo ops from 8:00 to 8:45 am at the airport on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, and from 9:00 am there will be a sword battle and stage performance with military exercises and ninja arts on the fourth floor event stage.
