New cast information has been revealed for Butai Yowamushi Pedal ~Sohoku Shinsedai, Shidou~ (Yowamushi Pedal Stage Play ~Sohoku New Generation, Start~). A cast of nine actors are performing as new characters, beginning with Kosuke Kujirai playing Junta Teshima.
As the title Sohoku New Generation, Start suggests, this time the play will largely feature Sohoku High members who haven’t yet appeared in the series. Playing Junta Teshima is Kosuke Kujirai who starred in the TV anime AM Driver and whose stage experience includes starring in the Prince of Tennis musicals. The other members of cast include Ryo Yashima as Hajime Aoyagi, Ikkei Yamamoto as Terufumi Sugimoto, Taizo Shiina as Issa Kaburaki, Shinichiro Ueda as Ryuho Danchiku, Taro Nakamura as Sadatoki Sugimoto, and Teruma as Kimitaka Koga. Additional cast members include Kentaro Kanesaki as Hakone student Masakiyo Dobashi, and Shogo Amo as Kyoto Fushimi student Komari Kishigami.
With this newest announcement, all the cast members have been revealed. Expect an intense performance from Yuki Ogoe in the role of main character Sakamichi Onoda. The series continues to be in the hands of Nishida Shatner who is writing and directing the play and Manzo who is creating the music.
Performances of Butai Yowamushi Pedal ~Sohoku Shinsedai, Shidou~ will be held at the Tokyo Dome City Hall from March 4–6, the Harmonie Cinq Kitakyushu Soleil Hall from the 10–13, the Orix Theater from the 17–21, and the KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre from the 25–27. Advance tickets went on sale at noon on Jan. 22, and general ticket sales will begin at noon on Feb. 6. General seating and side seating are both available for 6,800 yen (tax included).
The stage play is based on the cycling manga Yowamushi Pedal by Wataru Watanabe that is currently serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion. The series is a massive hit with over 15 million copies in print. The first season of its TV anime began broadcasting in 2013. Production on season 3 of the anime was confirmed in October 2015.
