Broadcast information has been announced for the TV anime Flying Witch. The anime will begin broadcasting in April on Nippon TV. It will also be broadcast on Aomori Broadcasting, a TV station in Aomori Prefecture where the series is set. A teaser visual and the main cast have also been revealed. With this announcement, anticipation will swell for the spring broadcast.
The main character of Flying Witch is 15-year-old Makoto Kowata who begins training to be a witch at a relative’s house in Aomori. The teaser visual shows Makoto and her black cat Chito on a bus gazing out at the scenic views of Aomori. The reflection of Makoto and Chito in the window is also carefully depicted. “15-year-old Makoto Kowata, aims to become a grown up witch”
is also written on the visual, making it one that will make fans anxious for the broadcast.
Directing is Katsushi Sakurabi of Yomigaeru Sora - Rescue Wings and Heaven’s Memo Pad fame. The series composer is Deko Akao and the character designer is Masato Yasuno. Producing the anime is J.C. Staff, the studio behind Prison School and Heavy Object.
The manga Flying Witch by Chihiro Ishizuka is currently serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. Up through the third volume has been published, and the fourth volume will be released ahead of the anime broadcast on March 9. The first chapter of the manga is available to trial read now on the official site of the TV anime. It depicts Makoto and Chito coming to Aomori and reuniting with her cousins. You can take this opportunity to relish in the world of the manga before the anime comes in April.
Makoto travels from Yokohama to Aomori to enroll in high school and train to be a witch at a relative’s house. But she hurries through her training and spends carefree days with her relatives and newly made friends. At this point Makoto can’t even fly, so will she really be able to blossom as a witch?
