A ton of anime was once again broadcast in 2015. And there were even countless films too. Among them there were many male characters and ikemen (hunky guys) who appeared.
The top 10 ikemen anime characters were chosen from a conversation during the year-end Anime Girl Symposium (関連記事参照) held by Anime!Anime!. Let’s take a look at the “Best of Ikemen.”

From Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Archer rose high on the list. Though the series has two anime adaptations, its content is based on the game Unlimited Blade Works. The series’ story follows Shiro Emiya and Rin Tohsaka, and also includes a story about Archer. His actions are largely talked about within the story. Archer has even been ranked above the series’ heroines in an official character poll. He is an unusual character for a game targeted toward males.
Zen Wistalia Clarines is from Snow White with the Red Hair. He is a prince character. Female fans praise him wildly, saying, “He’s an ideal prince,” and, “He always protects Snow White, and never says anything rotten.” The magnificence of the original manga is a given, but the anime brings new charms to the series through its colors and voice work.
Takeo Goda is also from a shojo manga, titled My Love Story!!. His appearance is anything but princely and he is highly popular with both males and females. Fans think that “Goda’s a hunk” and that “he’s a man’s man.” He’s kind to everyone and protects girls - and his strength is that even guys like his character. He exemplifies the cool, chivalrous type in shojo manga.
Gintoki Sakata from Gintama was also chosen. It’s a given that the series is popular, and Gintoki is a highly popular character from it. In a complete turnabout from its usual comedic style, the series continues with the series “Shogun Assassination” arc which the anime entered in December. As the series’ must-see developments continue, it seems Gin’s ikemen status will increase all the more.
The Grisaia series is originally based on games, and Yuji Kazami is essentially the player’s character. However, he is an ikemen who can do anything, and he impressed fans with the further depth he brought to the dense story. Since the rest of the characters are all female, he is highly popular in the series.
Chosen from Psycho-Pass was surprisingly not Shinya Kogami but rather Nobuchika Ginoza. Ginoza’s rank changes from Inspector to Enforcer between seasons 1 and 2, and throughout the series he protects heroine Akane Tsunemori. He showed swaying emotions during the movie and keeps himself in a position to observe and protect. That’s what makes him an ikemen.
