A Heartwarming Story of a Shrine Maiden and a Bear Begins Next Spring: “Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear” Broadcasts from April 2016

The broadcast schedule for the TV anime Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear has been determined. The anime will begin broadcasting in April 2016. A key visual has also been posted, and on it main character Machi Amayadori can be seen next to the brown bear, Natsu Kumai. The series’ world is expressed through this heartwarming illustration.

The story of Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear follows the interactions between a middle school student named Machi who lives in a mountain town in the Tohoku region and her brown bear guardian, Natsu. The key visual released this time shows Machi and Natsu relaxing underneath the overhang of a shrine. The illustration carefully depicts Machi’s shrine maiden outfit and the shrine itself, giving a feel of the series’ world.

Visuals and casting information have also been released for Machi’s cousin, Yoshio Amayadori, and her childhood friend, Hibiki Sakata. Voicing the sociable and optimistic Yoshio is Kazuyuki Okitsu from Arpeggio of Blue Steel, and voicing Hibiki, a delinquent who rides a motorcycle, is Eri Kitamura. We still don’t know what kind of dialogue there will be between these characters and Machi, who is being voiced by Natsumi Hioka.

The official site recently received a major update, and on it you can check out visuals of the characters and more. A special event for the anime will be held at Comic Market which begins on Dec. 29. A stage event will also be held during AnimeJapan 2016 in March. Voice stars Hioka (voice of Machi) and Hiroki Yasumoto (voice of Natsu) will take the stage when the event begins at 10:20 a.m. on March 26. More information on the anime will be released as the spring broadcast date approaches. Keep it here for more reports to come.
