The third season of the short horror anime Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories will begin broadcasting on TV Tokyo in January 2016.
The anime is themed after bizarre urban legends and is packed with Showa style in its digital “picture story show” presentation. The first season was broadcast in the summer of 2013 and the second, which welcomed guest directors from the world of J-horror, in the summer of 2014. It’s said that more than 100 eerie characters who incite urban legends will appear in the third season to begin in January.
On the production side, spirited creator Takashi Taniguchi (ILCA) is directing. CG production company Anima has given Taniguchi their full support. Also, the voice cast will continue their roles from the previous seasons, and in addition to the main cast that includes Ryota Murai and Risa Aizawa (Dempagumi.inc), an extensive supporting cast has been arranged from a variety of different fields.
