Sales of capsule toy figures of characters from Chibi Maruko-chan that sit humbly on the rim of your cup titled “Putitto Series: Chibi Maruko-chan” (Four figures total to collect) will begin exclusively in department stores throughout Japan on Oct. 18. They cost 300 yen each.
The figures are being sold as charity items to help those impacted by the Great East Japan Earthquake, with all profits to be donated to devastated areas. It seems this is the first time items related to Chibi Maruko-chan will be used for a charitable cause.
The “Putitto Series: Chibi Maruko-chan” figures are part of Kitan Club’s Putitto Series well known for the hit capsule toy line “Fuchico on the Cup” and are items that collaborate with department stores all over Japan. Sales will begin on Oct. 18 and run until stocks at each store are sold out.
