Super Mario is a game franchise that is widely popular the world over with both kids and adults alike. Officially licensed cosplay outfits from the series are set to be released. With these, you can dress up to look just like main characters Mario and Luigi. They will go on sale from Acos on Thursday, Sept. 10.
The Super Mario franchise is huge and has continued since the first game released on Sept. 13, 1985, Super Mario Bros. Mario in his red shirt and overalls is well known to game and character fans not just in Japan but worldwide. With this year being the franchise’s 30th anniversary, many plans to commemorate the year are in development. And now, outfits that anyone can wear to look like the iconic Mario or his brother Luigi will be released.
Mario and Luigi outfits are both being sold, and they come in the familiar red and green. A highlight is that the blue color of the overalls differs between the two, with Mario’s being lighter and Luigi’s darker. The sets come with four items: the outfit, hat, gloves, and a mustache. The outfit comes as one piece for the overalls and long sleeves, and it can be easily put on using the fastener at the back. The hats are detailed as well and feature the “M” and “L” initials. The mustache is worn with a strap that wraps around both ears. The outfits come in a ladies’ free size and men’s medium and large. They cost 7,500 yen each (plus tax).
Acos is a major retailer of cosplay items. The company has 13 stores in total throughout Japan. Aside from being sold at Acos, these outfits will also be sold in variety shops throughout the country as well. Pre-orders are being accepted now at all Acos and Animate stores.
