Popular artist Eir Aoi performed recently in Thailand at the anime convention Anime Festival Asia Thailand 2015. The event is the Thailand version of Southeast Asia’s biggest Japanese culture event, and Aoi performed there this year for the first time. Her performance came during the “I Love Anisong Concert,” one of the special features held on May 2. Over 3,000 local fans crowded into the venue and offered up their singing voices.
Up till now, Eir Aoi has performed in countless overseas concerts, but this was her first in Thailand. The concert began with “Innocence,” and continued with staple songs “Cynthia no Hikari” and “Tsunagaru Omoi,” lifting the tension in the venue all at once.
She belted out “Genesis” with plenty of emotion and transitioned into “Lapis Lazuli,” her newest song released on April 22, with talking interspersed between songs. The audience let out roaring cheers the moment she said in Japanese “This is the ending theme to The Heroic Legend of Arslan.”
The song that stole the show was the opening theme of Sword Art Online II, “Ignite.” Aoi sang the song aggressively as scenes from the anime played on the screens to the sides of the stage, and with the excitement largely still hanging in the air, the concert came to a close.
The popularity of Eir Aoi is spreading overseas; don’t miss what she does next. Aside from the concert, she also performed for the first time on the music program Music Station on May 1. Commemorative events for the release of her newest song, “Lapis Lazuli,” are also currently being held all over Japan. Over 3,000 fans visited AEON LakeTown in Koshigaya to here Aoi sing at a release event held on May 4. Anticipation over what Aoi will do next will rise from hereon.
