Sword Art Online collaboration glasses arrive; five frames filled with the series’ world

PC frames have arrived that embody the world of the hugely popular anime Sword Art Online (SAO), based on the original novels by Reki Kawahara. The official collaboration series “Sword Art Online PC Frame Produced by Heart Up” went on sale in limited quantities on Feb. 26 at 12:00 on the Heart Up Online Shop. The frames come in five designs, each one a representation of one of the series’ popular characters, for a variety of models to choose from. They cost 4,980 yen (tax included/shipping included).

SAO is a fantasy series that begins with main character Kirito becoming imprisoned inside the virtual reality game Sword Art Online. With this special collaboration, the makers seeked to closely express down to the smallest details the world of SAO on glasses frames. When they came up with the concepts, they based them on each character’s personality, maturity, story, and more. Each frame is minimalist in design while fully expressing a sense of SAO.

Since it’s Heart Up, the quality is also a highlight. The lenses use a coating that cuts blue light, approximately 52% of blue light emitted from PC and smartphone screens, and cuts approximately 99% of UV rays. With these, you can give your eyes a much-deserved break while watching anime, using your PC, gaming, or using your smartphone.

The lenses can also be changed for prescription lenses. This can be performed at stores selling Heart Up glasses by bringing in the replacement discount coupon included with the glasses (available until Feb. 28, 2016). The glasses will also be for sale in stores for a 10-day period from Feb. 28 to March 9 at Heart Up Ikebukuro and Ueno.

Of the five models available, two are based on main character Kirito: the Aincrad Model and Phantom Bullet Model. Popular heroine Asuna also has two models: the Aincrad Model and Caliber Model. And the final model is based on Sinon. Each frame expresses the colors and designs of their outfits, weapons, and symbols. Not only are they frames of popular characters, they seem appropriate for a variety of uses and situations.
