Celebrating the Release of ‘Naruto’ Volume 72 - Win a Color Sketch Signed my Masashi Kishimoto, and What is His No. 1 Best Selection?!

The 72nd and final volume of Naruto will hit shelves on Feb. 4. On Monday, Jan. 19, two big projects kicked off to celebrate the release. These two projects are taking place on the official Naruto app that launched in November 2014. The app made headlines for making available for free all 700 chapters of the original manga and all 220 episodes of the Naruto TV anime. It’s also convenient for its information on the animated film, exhibits, and more.

The first of the two big projects is guessing which illustration author Masashi Kishimoto himself will choose as his favorite. He will choose from 10 works out of Naruto Illustration Collection: Uzumaki Naruto, which will be released on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Users who choose correctly will be entered into a raffle, a one person will win a color sketch hand-signed by Kishimoto. An illustration signed by Kishimoto is a considerably rare item, so there will likely be a flood of entries.

The second project, free distribution of Naruto novels and illustrations on the official app, began on Monday, Jan. 19. Up till now, the content available had only been the manga and anime, and now this has been expanded. One illustration chosen from those drawn during the series’ 15-year serialization which began in 1999 will be released on the app every week. These will also be from those published in the forthcoming illustration collection.

The novel will have a free weekly serialization and will begin with Part 1 of the Naruto Hiden series, Kakashi Hiden: Hyoten no Ikazuchi, which will release on Feb. 4 along with the final volume of the manga and the illustration collection. The Hiden series will be serialized from February through July and consist of six installments focusing on popular characters Kakashi, Gaara, Shikamaru, and Sakura, as well as the organization Akatsuki, and Konoha.

With the final chapter, movie, and now a continuation, there is a lot of excitement surrounding Naruto, and there seems to be much for fans to look forward to. Keep your eyes peeled for more information to come.
